From April 1, 2026, SBI Card is introducing stricter limits on reward redemption, making it harder to cash out large points balances in one go.
What’s Changing?
1. ₹60,000 Monthly Redemption Cap
- You can now redeem a maximum of 60,000 reward points per month as statement credit
- If you have more points, the remaining must be redeemed in future months
Applies to most SBI cards
Exemptions: Some premium cards like Air India SBI Signature & select PhonePe SBI cards
2. Redemption Only in Fixed Multiples
- Points can now be redeemed only in multiples of 4,000
- Valid slabs: 4,000 / 8,000 / 12,000 … up to 60,000
No more flexible redemption of odd balances
Small leftover points may stay unused longer
3. Cashback & Rewards Getting Tighter
- Cashback caps are also being reduced by ~20% on some cards
- Overall reward structure is becoming more controlled and spend-linked
4. New Forfeiture Timelines
- Cashback-related reward points may be reversed within 90 days
- Instant discount rewards may be reversed within 120 days
Why This Matters
Earlier: You could redeem large chunks anytime
Now: Redemption is restricted + delayed
This impacts:
- Heavy spenders
- Users who accumulate large reward balances
- Cashback maximizers
