Mastercard is partnering with Archer-Daniels-Midland Company (ADM) to digitalise ADM’s Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and farmer base in Maharashtra. This collaboration aims to enhance direct sourcing, crop traceability, and transparency between ADM and smallholder farmers.
How It Works
ADM will leverage Mastercard’s Farm Pass technology to register FPOs, collection centres, and farmers. The collaboration will enable ADM to scale its oilseeds sourcing program while allowing farmers to receive payments directly onto Community Pass financial inclusion cards.
Benefits for Farmers
- Financial Inclusion: Farmers can access government welfare schemes and credit through Community Pass cards.
- Loyalty Solutions: ADM will explore offering unique benefits to farmers.
- $30 Million in Welfare: The initiative is expected to facilitate significant welfare and credit flow over the coming years.
Mastercard Community Pass
The Community Pass platform connects the agricultural ecosystem, helping farmers adjust supply according to market demand. It enables low-income communities to access essential services via interoperable digital technology. This initiative divides the cost of digital service delivery among governments, banks, and agri-tech firms.
Expansion Plans
After Maharashtra, ADM and Mastercard plan to extend the initiative to other Indian states, supporting more smallholder farmers across the country.
This collaboration strengthens ADM’s supply chain predictability and empowers farmers with digital solutions, fostering financial inclusion and sustainability in Maharashtra’s agricultural sector
