CSB Bank just tanked CIBIL scores for Jupiter Edge/Edge+ users — here's what happened and what to do

If your CIBIL score dropped 55–65 points overnight and you hold a Jupiter Edge or Edge+ (CSB Bank) RuPay credit card, you’re not imagining it — and it’s not something you did.

What happened

Under CIBIL’s newer reporting cadence, banks now report to the bureau four times a month — the 9th, 16th, 23rd, and last day. In its August 9th report, CSB Bank reported cardholders’ current outstanding balance as “Amount Overdue” — regardless of whether the bill was even due yet, or already paid on time.

Result: a clean, on-time payment history got flagged as a live default. CIBIL’s scoring model reacts hard to that.

The damage — and how you’ll know

Users are reporting drops of almost exactly 60–65 points, all within a single day:

  • 798 → 737

  • 792 → 731

  • 783 → 722

  • 767 → 706

The consistency of the drop (~61 points across completely different starting scores) is itself the tell — this is a systemic reporting error, not individual missed payments.

To check if you’re affected: pull your latest CIBIL report (Cred, Paisabazaar, Amazon, or CIBIL directly). Under “Account Information” for CSB Bank, look for the “Amount Overdue” field. If you paid on or before your due date, that field should read zero. If it shows your outstanding balance instead, you’re caught in this.

Jupiter has confirmed it

On the Jupiter community forum, Jupiter’s team responded directly on August 18:

“We have identified an issue with the information reported to the credit bureau and are working on the necessary correction. No action is required from your end, and rest assured, your credit score will not be impacted once the correction is completed.”

So a fix is in motion. No confirmed timeline yet on when corrected data will reflect.

What to do right now

  1. Screenshot your current CIBIL report showing the incorrect overdue amount — you’ll want this on record.

  2. Email Jupiter’s CSB support directly: edge-csb-support@jupiter.money. If you don’t get a real response, escalate to csb.grievance@jupiter.money, then customercare@csb.bank.in.

  3. File a dispute directly with CIBIL: cibil.com/contact-us

  4. If nothing moves in 30 days, you can escalate to the RBI Banking Ombudsman — a wrongly reported “overdue” that dinged your score is a legitimate ombudsman-eligible grievance.

Why this matters beyond CSB

This isn’t the first time. A similar incident hit SBI cardholders previously, where the bank reported the minimum amount due as overdue instead of the full statement balance. Bureau-reporting errors from issuers are becoming a recurring failure point as reporting frequency increases — worth keeping an eye on your report around each of CIBIL’s four monthly reporting dates, not just once a month.

If your score doesn’t recover once CSB confirms the correction is live, that’s worth flagging separately — corrections don’t always propagate cleanly.
