CRED has entered the credit card game in a bigger way — partnering with IndusInd Bank and RuPay to launch a new co-branded credit card. The announcement came out on September 15, 2025, during a launch event in Bengaluru
Key Features & Perks
- Rewards on E-Commerce: 5% on all e-commerce transactions.
- 1% on Offline & UPI Spends: For non-online / in-store spends and UPI/scan-and-pay via CRED.
- Versatile Redemption: Use your rewards across:
• CRED Store (over 2,000 products)
• CRED Pay merchants (500+ merchants)
• Travel bookings: flights via ixigo, hotels via Expedia, etc. [StartupPedia+1] - Instant Value: Each reward point equals ₹1 when used for travel; other uses may have lower value. [Live From A Lounge+1]
- Zero Joining Fee / Digital Onboarding: Fully digital process. No joining or annual fee announced so far. [StartupPedia+1]
- Premium Variant (Sovereign): There’s also an invite-only “Sovereign” card with an 18-carat gold-plated design, for a small elite segment.
Why It Matters
-
Offers a lifestyle-first rewards card for those who shop frequently online and want flexible redemption.
-
Moves away from locked-in merchant rewards to broader usage (e-com + travel + offline + UPI).
-
Zero joining fee + digital onboarding reduces friction. Good for users who want quick benefits without large costs.
-
The premium “Sovereign” card is invite-only and likely targets very high spenders. Not everybody will get this variant.
-
Redemption value may vary (travel vs non-travel). Non-travel uses may give lower value per point.
-
Terms/conditions (like credit limit, eligibility, reward caps, etc.) to be checked carefully.
If you’re someone who does a lot of online shopping, travels, and also uses UPI / offline spends, this new CRED-IndusInd RuPay card looks like a strong contender. It blends perks + flexibility nicely.
For users who mostly spend offline or don’t do much travel, the incremental benefit might be less.
