Premium credit cards often come with premium price tags.
Axis Bank is changing that—at least for a select set of customers.
The bank has introduced a limited-time offer under which eligible Axis Burgundy customers can get the joining fee and annual fee waived on the Axis Magnus Credit Card and the Axis Horizon Credit Card. The offer is aimed at select Burgundy banking customers and is available by invitation or eligibility criteria defined by the bank.
What’s New?
Eligible Axis Burgundy customers can enjoy:
- Nil joining fee on the Magnus and Horizon Credit Cards
- Nil annual fee, subject to the terms of the offer
- Access to premium travel and lifestyle benefits without the usual upfront cost
The fee waiver is applicable only to select Burgundy customers, and eligibility is determined by Axis Bank.
Why This Is Interesting
The biggest barrier just got removed.
Cards like Magnus and Horizon are positioned as premium travel cards, but their annual fees often make prospective applicants think twice.
By removing both the joining and annual fees for eligible customers, Axis is making these cards considerably easier to justify—especially for those who can maximize travel, lounge, and rewards benefits.
A stronger Burgundy value proposition
This move also strengthens the overall Axis Burgundy ecosystem. Instead of offering only banking privileges, Axis is bundling premium credit card access into the relationship, making Burgundy more attractive for affluent customers.
Things to Keep in Mind
While the fees may be waived, applicants should still evaluate the cards based on:
- Reward earning rates
- Airline and hotel transfer partners
- Lounge access
- Milestone benefits
- Recent reward program changes
A free premium card is only valuable if its benefits align with your spending habits.
The Bigger Picture
Banks are increasingly using premium credit cards to deepen customer relationships rather than simply acquire new cardholders.
We’ve seen exclusive offers tied to wealth programs before, but waiving both joining and annual fees on flagship cards is a notable incentive for eligible Burgundy customers.
