India’s push towards becoming a cashless economy has embraced UPI transactions. But what happens when you’re stuck with a poor internet connection? NPCI has introduced a way to make UPI payments offline through USSD (*99#) on your mobile. Here’s how:
1. Dial *99# from your registered mobile number.
2. A menu will appear—select “Send Money” by typing ‘1’ and hit “Send.”
3. Choose a transaction method: Mobile Number, UPI ID, etc.
4. Enter the recipient’s UPI-linked mobile number.
5. Enter the amount and hit “Send.”
6. Add an optional remark and input your UPI pin to complete the payment.
This process allows offline UPI payments, no internet needed!
For online payments under ₹500, UPI Lite offers a streamlined experience but requires internet connectivity.
In other UPI news, NPCI’s “UPI Circle” feature allows authorized secondary users to transact from a payer’s UPI account with proper safeguards.
Stay cashless, even without the internet!
